Community

We’re good neighbors, too.

Giving back to our community is an integral part of the SDI Heartland Division’s culture. Steel Dynamics supports local food pantries and community and youth programs and publications provided by the Vigo County Sheriff’s Department, sponsors a number of youth sports teams and school choirs, donates to local FFA chapters and 4-H programs and donates annually to a local fire department and to the Dads Appreciating Down Syndrome golf outing.

Moreover, team members throughout SDI strive to help others. We serve on the boards of nonprofit organizations and educational institutions and help organize fundraisers. The company supports the arts and other worthwhile cultural endeavors. SDI also made significant contributions to higher education, including providing funds to build new facilities for colleges and universities.

Philanthropy and volunteerism

During the holiday season, we adopt families in need, and we also lend our support to families of fellow employees serving in the military.
